Very limited outage's. Had new service installed last fall. Very easy to work with. I was a former Penelec customer. I could never say these things about them !

We rarely experience outages, and when we do, they are quick to fix. I've never had an issue with their communication, and they are always willing to answer questions and are helpful and friendly. Often have customer appreciation days and staff is courteous. So glad I'm part of a co-op, especially after hearing MANY horror stories of other service providers.

This is the worst electric company ever. For the past couple of months, the electricity has been going out for no reason for the whole neighborhood. It could be a clear, sunny day with no wind or anything, and it will go out for hours on end. I’m tired of having to play a guessing game of whether or not we’ll go a day with the power staying on. These outages used to be significantly less frequent than what they’ve been in the last year and a half. It’s gone from a couple of outages a year, to significantly more throughout the months, now at approximately every other week. There have been consistent surges between the lengthy outages that also leave us wondering if we’ll have to deal with yet another day without power. These surges are almost as frequent (if not more frequent) than the instances of large outages. It would be nice to receive, at the least, an explanation and apology for these continuous inconveniences. But no one seems to want to fix the problem so, at this time, we are literally paying for our electricity to go out. This company should be ashamed of themselves to have such poor service. It’s disgusting and pathetic. I would give this negative stars if I could because even 0 stars is too good for them.

Every time we have an outage, they are very quick to repair. We have had two transformers blow very close to us, several outages, all likely due to weather. The latest was the ice storm that we assumed knocked out power in many areas. We called and very shortly afterwards the issue was fixed and they called back to make sure everything was ok.
The area is very heavily covered with many electrical services passing through very rural areas. Trees are not friends to our electrical service. Im amazed we don't have more issues and the fact that Somerset Electric is so responsive. I pay a bit more here than we did with West Penn, however the services is night and day better with Somerset and worth every penny.

As a city dweller who has a weekend retreat served by the Co-Op, I am constantly amazed at the differences in cost and service. The Co-Op provides power at significantly lower cost. They are interested in helping the consumer to conserve electricity and are responsive to the needs of the community. Their service is personal and prompt. They are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. I wish all of our utilities functioned as well as the Somerset Rural Electric Co-Op.

High rates I think on electric. But what really bugs me is we was 40© short. Just .40. An get a late fee. Dont be late.
